Abstract:
Develop innovative technology for the sustainable management of forest ecosystems
This project consists of developing and testing in a real situation a network of sensors for measuring and monitoring forest ecosystems, intended for large-scale use by forest practitioners. This network of sensors will provide managers and technical forest operators with new information, through the quantity, precision and level of detail of the data collected. This information will allow foresters to refine their understanding of ecosystems in order to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of silvicultural practices. Thanks to this technology, professionals will have a solid basis for using machines and for managing wood stocks in the forest. This approach constitutes a further crucial step towards forest 4.0, by analogy with industry 4.0.
