Basoa 4.0
Abstract:
Basoa 4.0 seeks to incorporate the forestry/wood sector into the Basque digitalisation strategy by providing the different agents that make up its value chain with new tools that complement the existing ones and allow it to make a significant technological leap. The main objective of the project is the development of a platform to monitor, analyse, plan and support the decision-making process throughout the forest management and wood transformation processes. The tool will include a set of technologies for automation and intercommunication to improve forest management from the forest to first and second transformation companies. The industry will be able to use the advantages of the "Big Data" generated in the forest to improve its productive processes and make them more competitive by incorporating solutions from "Industry 4.0". Baskegur, the association that represents the forestry and wood sector in the Basque Country, leads this project that has the support of specialized technology centers. The most critical point of the value chain, and where Basoa 4,0 try to work is the process between tree harvesting and transport to the factory. The project has been presented to a public grant program, it has not been approved yet.
